Stainless Steel TIG Welding Wire

The designation TIG comes from USA and is an abbreviation of Tungsten Inert Gas. Tungsten – also called wolfram – is a metal with a fusion point of more than 3300oC, which means more than double the fusion point of the metals which are usually welded. We provides customized  packaging of TIG wires. Our Stainless Steel TIG Welding Wires have been the most preferred material for SS TIG welders. Our wires strictly conform to the standards and specifications of the American Welding Society (AWS).

Characteristics of Stainless Steel TIG Welding

Stainless steel tungsten electrode argon arc welding is based on the arc welding between the tungsten electrode and the workpiece. Because the welding wire itself is not energized, there is no spatter during the welding process and excellent bead formation can be obtained. The tungsten electrode has a poor current carrying capacity. Excessive current will cause the tungsten electrode to melt and evaporate. Its particles may enter the molten pool and cause tungsten to be trapped. Therefore, the deposition speed is low and the production efficiency is low. In addition, due to the shallow penetration depth, generally the workpieces over 4mm need to beveled. Welding of medium and thick plates is very economical and is rarely used.

Application of SS TIG Welding

Compared with other welding methods, due to the protection of pure argon, the alloy elements in the TIG welding wire have almost no burnout and can be completely transferred to the weld. In addition, because TIG welding usually has a low current and a small welding line energy, and the weld stays in the sensitive temperature range for a short time, the weld usually has excellent corrosion resistance and high mechanical properties. Therefore, TIG welding is widely used in stainless steel welding. Stainless steel solid wire for TIG welding, the main applications include welding of thin-walled structures, primer welding, welding of welding structures and repair welding.

Thin-walled stainless steel plates are widely used in various industries, such as processing machinery, kitchen equipment, building decoration, household appliances and automobiles. In these industries, the welding of stainless steel is an important process of the product, and the quality of the welding directly determines the quality of the product. In order to prevent problems such as deformation and burn-through that may occur during welding, TIG welding is the only welding method that can be used. According to reports, a factory of 0.8mm thick 304 thin plate splicing, using automatic TIG welding, by controlling the current and welding speed, successfully completed welding, and the welding quality is good. Structures of this thickness cannot be welded by other fusion welding methods.
